A 3/4 - 6/8 hybrid, some measures have two dotted-quarters, while others have three plain quarters. The eighth-notes beneath are beamed to reflect the metric grouping above. The tune is harmonized like old plainchant, in 4ths. The ostinato bass has two alternating notes above an initial bass tone. Sometimes the alternating notes sound like a hemiola, sometimes not. Variation with as little change as possible: this is the Essence of Minimalism. Early Intermediate level. MP3 MIDI audio. Pedaling indicated throughout. Plays twice, short duration. MBB.
