  • March 13, 2007 This is NOT the Paderewski edition

I'm searching the internet for the Paderewski edition of the Scherzos, and keep coming across this Dover edition being listed as the Paderewski edition. It is the Mikuli edition. Don't be fooled. I can tell it is not the Paderewski edition from the image of the first page...

of the first waltz, and I've never heard of Dover having gained rights to the very expensive Paderewski edition. With that said, I love Dover editions of music, as they are an unbeatable price. The waltzes are within the ability of an accomplished amateur. The scherzos are significantly more difficult. The Mikuli editions are not the best, but you can't beat the price if you are not choosy. I just don't know why these are being listed on the internet as Paderewski editions.

I have never enjoyed Chopin's music until hearing the waltzes presented in this book. They are undeniably charming and incredibly fun! This book is one of only two Dover books I have ever seen that includes fingering- although I sometimes felt that the fingering was made more difficult than...

necessary in order to avoid hitting a repeated note with the same finger. Overall, Chopin's Waltzes and Scherzos will provide a nice challenge to intermediate pianists and will be fun for advanced pianists to put in a little work. These are some of the funnest piano pieces you will ever hear or play, so Buy This Book!
