Composed by Brett L. Wery. Concert,Contemporary. Score and part. 6 pages. Sonata Grendel Publishing #3139095. Published by Sonata Grendel Publishing (A0.837483).

Two Miniatures for Clarinet and Piano began its life as an example for my theory class of the difference between Anton Webern and Alban Berg’s style of 12-tone writing. I liked the pieces so much I decided to make them available for performance. The first movement emphasizes Webern’s careful avoidance of anything that could be construed as tonal. The second follows Berg’s practice of intentionally building in tonal allusions. In this case, the minor-major 7th chord (used in the James Bond film scores of John Barry).

This 1 ½  minute piece is ideal for high school, college players.
