Composed by Bert Ligon. Score and parts. Published by TrevCo Music Publishing (VC.1792).Introduction- Variations- Epilog
This piece was composed for Dr. Rebecca Nagel, oboe professor at the University of South Carolina, to perform at a conference in Buenos Aries, Argentina. It was originally written for the three black sticks, two oboes and bass clarinet, and incidental hand percussion. The primary instrumentation for this edition is two oboes and English Horn, with a clarinet/bass clarinet part as the alternate. All options for the trio are provided with this set. For the Argentine premier, a Tango was chosen for the central theme. The Tango is introduced by a contrapuntal Baroque section which returns at the end. Each instrument carries important melodic material throughout the piece. The piece is humorous, rhythmic and energetic and a great change of pace for a woodwind concert.
