'My most important desire and wish was to one day give my experience with the piano over to each pianist, and future young performer. Rome (Italy)
    Difficulty Level:

This compilation surely had the revision by Cziffra himself. Specially Bumble Bee and Trish Trash polka are completely aderent to Cziffra executions, but all the pieces are written down very accurately. A wonderful way to enter in Cziffra transcriptions world!

  • February 29, 2004 the Reincarnation of the great LISZT

For me CZIFFRA was the Reincarnation of the great Franz LISZT in both his uncomparable technique and obcession in the Piano. His transcriptions, very similars to liszt's ones(even much harder sometimes)deserve to be edited as done in these two volumes from PETERS... I bought them specially to...

discover the fantasy on themes from William Tell as well as the other great works, this fantasy is a jewel:its dark opening, misteriously wild orage, joyful and pleasant pastorale and BREATHTAKING finale make it one of the hardest and most interesting piece among all the piano's literature! Every serious pianist,i mean not every piano player but every talented pianist and hard worker , will enjoy discovering this treasure!

    Los Altos, CA
    Difficulty Level:
  • December 30, 2001 Rare Piano Transcriptions Finally Appear

Georges Cziffra was a pianist in the Horowitz genre that made piano solo transcriptions, not for high musical values, but to exploit the virtuoso possibilities of both piano and performer. I bought this book to see the score of the infamous "Flight of the Bumble Bee" (as recorded by Katsaris...

and Volodos) played in alternating octaves. This book (Volume I of 2) also contains the Cziffra transcriptions of 15 Brahms Hungarian Dances and the Strauss "Tritsch-Tratsch Polka." Volume II was published circa May 2001 and contains transcription of the "Saber Dance" and "William Tell Overture." All Cziffra transcriptions are exciting to hear and EXTREMELY difficult to play!
