This release is the second volume of Richard Strauss's complete piano works. The pieces here recorded were written during the composer's childhood and adolescence, which makes us admire their workmanship and the progressing talent they reveal. The young Strauss's music language, indeed, shows a definite development, leading to the beautiful Stimmungsbilder Op. 9, a collection of five short pieces that are every bit as good as some Romantic masterpieces. Most of these works are world premiere recordings; among them the Fantasia TrV 29, 2-Kleine Stucke TrV 30, Sonate TrV 47 and the Albumblatt TrV 111.
