The Music Man, with book, music, and lyrics by Meredith Willson, became a hit on Broadway, winning five Tony Awards in 1957, including Best Musical. Fast-talking con man "Professor" con man Harold Hill comes to River City, Iowa, intending to sell the town and its children on a fake marching-band scheme with instruments, uniforms and music lessons then skip town -- until he falls for the local librarian. The Music Man is a crowd-pleasing show with a great number and range of roles that is well-suited to professional, community, and school productions alike.
The album includes two versions of every song, one with guide vocals and one with instrumental accompaniment only - totaling 34 tracks. Tracks 1-18 contain guide vocals; tracks 19-34 contain accompaniment only. Please NOTE: Two songs from this show ("Sincere" and "It's You") are performed a capella. Guide vocals are available on this album, but not accompaniment tracks. This album is a re-recording of the Broadway musical version in the original show key and show tempo.
