The first section of the piece is written in G Minor with a rather pedestrian tempo, which is then followed in G Major by a rather spritely tempo and finally the piece finishes as it begins, in G Minor at the slower tempo. This arrangement is very suitable for a young orchestra with solo opportunities for all parts. A pieces that is certain to teach as well as entertain. Like all composition written in "The Scampering Scarecrow String Series", The Mischievous Mop also presents the G Harmonic Minor Scale along with rhythm patterns taken from the composition.
