"The Harbingers" is a work in four movements for woodwind quintet + Bb trumpet. The four movements are as follows: Conquest, War, Famine, and Death, named after the four horsemen of the apocalypse. It could easily be tackled by high school musicians or a community ensemble. The music begins as soldiers marching off to war in "Conquest," but quickly turns ominous, leading into the clash of "War." In "Famine," vultures circle overhead; in "Death," themes from previous movements are recalled as a reminder of why death can occur. The piece has minimalist themes that cycle through all of the parts. If you have any questions, you can find me at AngelinaPanozzo.com. Happy music making!
