Miklos Rozsa's String Trio op. 1 was written during his student years. A year before composing the work, also titled "Serenade," Rozsa had left his native Hungary to study at the renowned Leipzig Conservatory. Rozsa dedicated the string trio to his teacher, the now forgotten composer, pedagogue and music theorist Hermann Grabner. The four-movement composition is the first of a long series of works that Rozsa published with Breitkopf & Hartel, which in many ways served as a stepping stone for the young composer.CD:Tippett QuartetCD Naxos 8.572903Bibliography:Bally, Juliane: Miklos Rozsa.
