By Biliana Tzinlikova. By Stephen Heller. Country of Origin: Germany. Classical. Listening CD. Published by Naxos (NX.PMR0065).Once called a "witty talent" by Robert Schumann, Stephen Heller was a contemporary of Verdi and Wagner who is most known for his popular Melodic Etudes. Much of Heller's music, however, has been largely unexplored, including his variations, dances, Lieder, and character pieces. For this recording, pianist Biliana Tzinlikova has chosen to explore Heller's variations for piano. Tzinlikova has studied with the likes of Pierre Amoyal, Pavel Gililov, Claude Frank, and Andor Losonczy, and appears as a soloist and chamber-music performer at events and festivals throughout Europe and the United States.
