Arranged by Tom Aufrance. Set of Parts. 4 pages. Published by Mary Kay Aufrance (H0.132717-479450).

This unique and original arrangement includes a delightful surprise as it unfolds from the Super Fastidious (made for hamming it up!) to the Super Familiar and Fun!

After a studious faux Renaissance Italian style start, in part harmony, the original Solomon Linda words and theme of "Uim-bu-be" (Look Out For The Lion!) emerge. Then, in a skillfully crafted musical twist, the Lion Sleeps Tonight theme emerges. And, by the time your performers reach the end, your audience will be singing along in gleeful delight to "The Wee-ma-way Song!"

Tested at many a Renaissance Era performance, the name Stasera Dorme Il Leone will be fun to have on your performance program. It translates from Italian to English a "The Lion Sleeps Tonight;" therefore, your audience may suspect a little bit of musical fun is about to ensue, upon first read of your program.

This rollicking and fun score was written for vocals, but it can also  be used with the same audience pleasing effect when played by any 4-part ensemble. The .mp3 sample file was created from the end of this arrangement, which is it's what follows the studious and pedantic start, which then picks up excitement and develops into The Lion Sleeps Tonight theme. Therefore, true to musicology, out of the actual historical original African composition text of Uim-bu-be by Solomon Linda, as the arrangement pops into the familiar theme popularized by the Tokens and Disney. Everything about this arrangement is true to musicology and roots, and it even follows the Tokens' chord structure, which they applied to Solomon Linda's original song!

The mp3 sample sounds like an ensemble of 4 recorders, following the vocal lines. But, you can play any melody instruments or go a cappella instead. Lyrics are in African, Italian and English, for 4-part a cappella singing.

Have a listen to the .mp3 sample and you will hear the arranger's delightful translation from civilized Italian Renaissance to the wilds of today's pop music jungle! This arrangement is not difficult to sing or play and it sure is fun for the players and singers as well as audiences! This number is a real sleeper (pun intended) with the theme emerging gradually, then most assuredly waking up your audience. Try Tom Aufrance's arrangement of The Lion Sleeps Tonight, and you will see!

This arrangement received a fantastic review of "Well Done!" from Ron Daniels, Conductor of Reno Philharmonic. Thank you for considerint Stasera Dorme Il Leone The Lion Sleeps Tonight for your sheet music purchase.
