The opportunity to compose a percussion concerto for Evelyn Glennie, co-commissioned for premieres by the Singapore Symphony and the Aspen Music Festival, inspired Steven Stucky to create an exotic soundscape as a means to enrich the repertoire for solo percussionist with orchestra and to invent a fascinating musical world. The concerto is in seven short movements, played without pause, each exploring the mysticism of different cultures from around the world.
