This is music at the Grade 1 jazz level that correlates with specific units in the Jazz Basics improvisation method, as well as with Jamey Aebersold's Volume 1: Jazz: How to Plan and Improvise. It is performance music that works with flexible instrumentation requiring as few as four horns and piano, bass and drums. Each piece includes audio with the full performance as well as solo practice tracks. All the rhythm section parts are fully notated and include chord symbols. This swing chart correlates with Jazz Basics, Unit 5 and with Jamey Aebersold's great play-along Volume 1: Jazz: How to Play and Improvise. It incorporates the same FMI - Ebmi - Dmi chord sequence that is the basis for much of Jamey's first volume.
