Published by Jerry Lanning (A0.767705).This is an arrangement of a work originally written for two antiphonal instrumental groups. The word ’Sonata’ means a work which was played as opposed to one which was sung (Cantata). The dynamics are Gabrieli’s own. The metronome markings are my suggestions only, but reflect the fact that in the days when there were no conductors there had to be some sort of mathematical relationship between the tempi of successive passages.
