Performance Time: 6:30

This ominous work is based around the Fallen Angel, Lucifer.  Each instrument plays a vital role in the story:  the strings are the Angels, the Brass section represents Hell with the French Horn being Lucifer, the Woodwinds embody Earth, and the Timpani is the wrath of God.  The piece follows the story from the very beginning, the creation of Earth, and then goes until the Battle of Heaven.  After that, Lucifer gets banished to Hell where he is angry with his father.  Once his anger becomes controlled, Lucifer begins to realize that he has been exiled until the end of time.  The piece ends with him accepting his fate in Hell and gave up trying to fight back.

Most pieces use complex rhythms and timing to increase the difficulty in pieces.  Devon took a different approach and decided to use the range and unique sound of each instrument into account when writing.  While there aren't many complex sections, the range requirements and emotional complexity are higher than most other pieces.
