Each year the Rossini Opera Festival hosts a summer of singing in Rossini's hometown. The productions on this outstanding four-disc box set come from Festival editions spanning 2011 to 2013, and showcase Rossini's dramatic scope to the full extent. This production of Mose in Egitto is staged by Graham Vick, and tells the Biblical tale of Moses and his oppression and freedom. The next opera is also inspired by the Old Testament, and is Ciro in Babilonia. Rossini singer Ewa Poldes shines in her role as Ciro. The one act opera farce Il signor Bruschino has been transformed in this production to a modern day theme park, making it a unique version. Finally, L'Italiana in Algeri is a riotous opera buffa which was an early success for young Rossini.
