Gunther was my first composition teacher when I was a graduate student at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. On impulse I decided to redirect this work to Gunther Schuller, in memoriam. The title is Requiem Octet. All the melodies in the octet are coupled with the Latin text from the requiem. There are eight movements.1. Requiem aeternam ...2. Dies irae, dies illa ...3.
