Each of 5 sections is based on a different dance. The first section is based on a stately Basse Danse which leads directly into a set of fun-loving Branles. The third section is a slow, sensuous Pavane followed by a set of gently rhythmic Galliards. Closing the piece is a wild Scherzo with brash Tordions chasing each other to the end. "Renaissance Mix" shows-off all the instruments of the woodwind quintet to good advantage. Advanced players will find this 9-10 minute piece to be satisfying and fun to play, and a pleasing and exciting piece for your audience. Submitted for the 2015 Areon Flutes International Chamber Music Composition Contest.
