Reflections - Book 1

Reflections - Book 1 composed by Martha Mier. For solo piano. Piano Collection; Piano Supplemental. Instructional and Classical Period. SMP Level 2 (Late Elementary). Collection. Introductory text (does not include words to the songs). 16 pages. Published by Alfred Music (AP.19769).

ISBN 0739016849. With introductory text (does not include words to the songs). Instructional and Classical Period. 9x12 inches.

Many musical moods are reflected in this captivating collection of seven elementary piano solos written in the Romantic style. Lyrical melodies arching above rich harmonies encourage the shaping of expressive musical phrases. Carefully chosen dynamic markings help less experienced students develop finesse within the phrases. Grown-up titles and introspective melodies make this collection suitable for teenage and adult beginners too.

This title has selections that range in difficulty from SMP Level 1-2.

  • October 16, 2010 A Much-Needed Book!

As a piano teacher, I have several students who started learning piano in middle school and are now 9th graders with beginning sight-reading skills but wanting to play pieces that did not sound beginner! This book was the answer for me! The music sounds lovely and mature, but is...

really quite easy to play. It would be a great resource for adult students as well. I have also assigned it to younger students who are at a Level 1B or 2 with great success! Each piece is more beautiful than the next with smooth melodic lines and enchanting chord progressions. There is some moving of hands so I would rate this as Late-Beginner Literature.

  • February 09, 2008 Sound like a pro, from the very start!

The cornerstone of my music program is the lending library. Each student must take a book a week (at 1 or 2 levels below learning level) and read it cover to cover. This really develops sight reading and the concept of reading for pleasure. Martha Mier is the perfect composer...

, as she writes delightful music at all levels. This volume is sure to please! 2nd year students can easily play these compositions in church (preludes and quiet moments) and family gatherings, giving a taste of public performing from the start!
