Great Trio, and a good workout for all, especially your cellist who doesn't like to double the pianists left hand. Turina dispenses with key signatures, and writes with continuous modulation, in the style of Franck, and D'Indy; but it doesn't make me feel seasick as do the...

worst excesses of the French composers. My only complaint is that Turina frequently writes chords that contain both sharp and flat accidentals: If this isn't against the rules, it should be.

Charming, audience-,friendly trio - nothing profound. A nice change from the usual repertoire. The print is not great as some staff lines are indistinct or missing. Definitely worth the cost

  • March 07, 2009 Lesser known, very pleasant piano trio

Very melodic, some "Spanish" figures, a fair number of internal tempo changes, many register changes. This is intermediate/advanced in comparison to, say, the Brahms Piano Trios. It's about 15 minutes in duration.
