Book is useful for my needs. Our repertory theatre will be performing the musical this summer, and I wanted to learn some of the songs on my flute just to "get in the spirit." They are in a higher key than what's on YouTube so I can't play...

along, but that's not so important. "Distant Melody" is one of the most beautiful songs ever, and when my chorale heard me playing this with our pianist, they decided to learn to sing it!

I bought the book for two songs... Never Never land and I gotta crow. Never Never is a fifth higher!! then Mary Martin sings it, and I gotta crow is a third higher. So the book is not of any use for me.

  • October 15, 2008 Great way to learn nusic for auditions!

I needed to audition my high school kids for the musical, but I wasn't getting the score for months. I found this and was able to use it to teach the music to them. The only negative is that the songs are in a different (and higher) key than...

the original score, but in the long run it doesn't matter. Not every song is in here, but there are enough to teach. The choices in here are excellent and easy to read/play.

Honestly this is a strange book, if you are a young reader then find a modern version as it will suit you better

  • July 13, 2001 Peter Pan 1954 Musical Vocal Selections

This book contains beautiful but manageable arrangements of most of the songs from the 1954 Mary Martin production of Peter Pan, as performed on Broadway & seen on TV. Many of us baby boomers watched the TV broadcasts & thus became acquainted with the Broadway musical, something which was unknown & inaccessible to...

many of us at that time. This book brings back memories of childhood & preserves an important historical & musical development in the history of the play "Peter Pan." In more recent times, Cathy Rigby has improved on the special effects & orchestral arrangements, but Mary Martin & her collaborators were the ones that made "Peter Pan" into a full-fledged musical play.
