At the close of each "Repertoire" volume there is a glossary of terms. "Technique" books are planned to support the needs of the respective "Repertoire" pieces as well as promote growth in general technical skills. "Musicianship" books offer the opportunity to delve into topics such as style, rhythm, melody, harmony, form and expressive elements.

This is a wonderful collection of well-edited classical repertoire. Most of the teacher favorites are here, but there are also some great selections that are less well known. The six books of this series progress at a very comfortable rate and give the student time to master each new...

skill prior to moving onto more difficult selections. Marvin Blickenstaff edited this series, along with the Celebration books by Frederick Harris and the Progressive Repertoire series also put out by Carl Fischer. He has a wonderfful knack for choosing great music and making it accessible to students.
