Many great songwriters emerged from New York's Tin Pan Alley in the early 20th century but few have had the lasting legacy of Cole Porter. He composed remarkable scores for Broadway and films, starting with his first stage hit, Paris, in 1928. Among his many great musicals were Anything Goes, Kiss Me Kate, and Can-Can.
