  • March 07, 2008 Not only for singers, but...

I use vocal collection books such as this one, but as an instrumentalist (french horn). Since the hands of any instrumentalist are in use, it is awkward to turn pages. I have written to Hal-Leonard about including or making available a separate solo part, but they aren't interested...

. Of course I can take the trouble to extract the solo parts myself, but it is a lot of trouble. I notice one or two musical errors in the book, and the binding makes it difficult for the book to lay flat; otherwise it is a very good book + CD piano accompaniment for practice for both instrumentalists and singers. To Hal-Leonard's credit, they publish a variety of vocal collections with CD piano accompaniment such as this one. I hope they will make more. I hope they will provide separate solo parts. I rate this 3 stars; average 5 for concept and CD accompaniment, 1 for nasty binding and no solo part.
