Composed by Felix Bartholdy Mendelssohn. Arranged by Ray Thompson. Instructional,Romantic Period. 43 pages. RayThompsonMusic #3094693. Published by RayThompsonMusic (A0.553568).

Mendelssohn wrote the incidental music, Op. 61, for A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1842.
The A Midsummer Night's Dream Overture, Op. 21, originally written as an independent piece 16 years earlier, was incorporated into the Op. 61 incidental music as its overture, and the first of its 14 numbers. There are also vocal sections and other purely instrumental movements, including the Scherzo, Nocturne and Wedding March.
The Scherzo, with its sprightly scoring, dominated by chattering winds and dancing strings, acts as an intermezzo between Acts I and II.
It is arranged here for wind dectet and tuba (could be contra bassoon)
The clarinets take the brunt of the violin melody, but flutes, oboe and even bassoon 1 get their share.
The horns are basically Mendelssohn's, transposed for horns in F.
The tuba and bassoon 2 provide a solid bass line throughout.
I have set my tempo at a steady Allegro, rather than an Allegro Vivace, to give the wind players a chance!
It's still a good blow, but I have tried to give everyone a "breather" now and then.
Plenty of fun for everyone.
