  • February 09, 2013 Jerry "The Killer" - Study and Memory

For those who want to study the style of Jerry Lee Lewis, this is the DVD. Moreover, the narrative about the career artist himself is something valuable to the memory of North American Music.

The video was well worth the price. Good camera angle showing his hands actually on the keys. Loved to learn some of Jerry Lees history. Loved the footage of Jerry Lee on Steve Allen show in 50s. The power and electricity of Jerry Lee in his youth is amazing. "Nobody...

could follow 'The Killer.'" Would like to see more of his early career. I wish someone would provide some "real" piano transcriptions of exactly how Jerry Lee actually plays these songs. Too much sheet music is made for those who have had "three" piano lessons and can now say they are playing Great Balls of fire. Give us some challenging music that makes us better. Sheet music in the past (20s, 30s, 40s) was often an authentic transcription and sounded great. Not like the "watered down" "dumbed down" of mosts sheet music available today.

I bought this DVD of Mr. Lewis playing the piano specifically to see and learn how to play "Great Balls of Fire". I have purchased many sheet music offerings of Great Balls of Fire, only to be disappointed in that it didn't sound at all like Jerry Lee and...

didn't match his playing of the song. Here again I was disappointed to find only an intro to Great Balls Of Fire and not the complete piece. I tried to play it anyway from the sheet music PDF only to find it doesn't match Jerry Lee on the video. After investing considerable time I managed to correct the sheet music so it matched the video. This did provide some insight into Jerry Lees' way of playing. I am still looking for the complete and correct sheet music for Great Balls Of Fire as played by Jerry Lee.
