The clarinet section plays over the bridge and the snare drum has multiple rolls. Trumpets play a large range going from low B to high D. Several mini themes are grouped by instrumentation with the main theme returning at the end. Specific articulation has been included along with trills in the upper woodwinds to provide a characteristic celebration to mark the end of winter and introduce spring.
