This arrangement of Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana is written for a cello ensemble, cello quintet, or cello quartet with a double bass. Cello 1 reaches up to E5 and is written in tenor clef. Cello 2 reaches C5, is written in both bass clef and tenor clef, and includes double-stops. Cello 3 reaches up to G4 and is written in bass clef. Cello 4 reaches up to E4 and includes double-stops. Cello 5 is written in bass clef and can be played by an intermediate player. Double Bass reaches C3 and goes to an E1. Cello 1 carries the melody throughout and there are moments where the the Cello 2 plays the wind part solos. At measure 20, there is a beautiful pizzicato arpeggio (originally the harp part) where Cello 2-5 and Double Bass intertwine with the melody played by Cello 1.
