This release is the debut Musica Omnia album from the Hugo Wolff Quartet. The Hugo Wolff Quartet hails from Vienna, and is one of Europe's leading ensembles of the younger generation. The group specializes in both classical and contemporary repertoire. This two disc set combines Ralf Yusuf Gawlick's most recent work, Imagined Memories, with one of the quartets quoted in the piece's introduction, Schubert's A minor "Rosamunde" Quartet, D. 803. Also included in this set is an extensive 40-page full color booklet with notes and essays in both German and English. Imagined Memories is Ralf Yusuf Gawlick's most personal work. It is a musical offering to the biological mother that he never knew. The piece utilizes the entire range of string techniques, and is a vision of haunting and evocative beauty.
