It is great Dance Music with a “swing” feel and was extremely popular in the Fifties. The Shag is still popular in the Carolinas and remains the State Dance for South Carolina. HONKIN’ HORNS has the sound literally of two saxophones “honking” together wonderfully - almost wildly. It is GREAT FUN to play and to listen to. There are very few saxophone solos for two saxophone that are as much fun to play as HONKIN’ HORNS and CRYIN’ SAXES. There is also no equal found in Saxophone Music in giving to the listener the desire to dance. [The music here is written for Two Alto Saxophones but can be easily transposed for other Saxophones.].
