  • September 07, 2009 Simply awesome!

This volume is terrific! The songs are transcribed note for note with all embellishments (whole-step bend, trill, tapping, etc.) displayed. The meaning of the embellishment symbols are provided in a glossary within the volume. In songs that use multiple guitars, each guitar part is there including strumming rhythms, chord...

changes, and a chord chart for all the chords in that song showing fingering positions. The melody notes and lyrics are also present. So if you want to take the time and really learn how to play one of these songs, this is the volume to get! I have played guitar off and on since 1982 with about two years of formal lessons and the rest spent figuring songs out mostly by ear. Now with this book, it is easy to get every note. I also have volume 3 and shall be getting volume 2 soon...

  • April 29, 2008 Improves Your Playing--Maybe...

Forget the $30 cover charge: the price you pay is the time you may have to put into learning these songs--this goes for beginnr & advanced players Advanced players will love opening up their repertoire; beginners will spend years building up their level of playing to master all these songs...

: how long will it take? how dedicated are you to guitar? how many hours a day do you NEED to practice? are you OBSESSED with guitar? This book would be better in your teacher's hands. He or she can then show you how to play these songs step by step Very few guitarists and guitar students will actually like this book, esp. the beg/int levels. I've been playing for 30 years and teaching for 20-I can play all the rock songs in the book, but the jazz presents challenges and requires practice even for me...just to give you an idea of what this book is like. i teach many of the songs from this book through my video lessons and to my private students

  • April 16, 2007 Not for the beginner

I have been taking lessons for a year and a half and found this book too difficult at this point to use. I ordered some of the Easy Guitar books and have found them to be much more useful for me. Maybe in the future I will be able to...

    use this book.
