Goin' to Bethlehem

By Jay Althouse

Choir Sacred (SATB choir)
Composed by Jay Althouse. Choral Octavo. Choral Designs. Christmas; Epiphany; Sacred; Spiritual; Winter. Choral Octavo. 8 pages.

Item Number: AP.19804

Christmas; Epiphany; Sacred; Spiritual; Winter.

This exciting original Christmas spiritual by Jay Althouse opens with the men stating the rhythmic theme, followed by the middle voices and finally the sopranos. The three verses include much repetition but plenty of surprises-including a women's section contrasted by the men, and an optional high descant on the driving finish. A fresh new work that's solidly rooted in the classic spiritual traditions. An Althouse winner and a must for your holiday concerts!
A cappella.

An enjoyable piece to sing as well as to listen to. Used it this year both at the end of a concert and as part of a carol service - equally effective in both settings.

I told my choir, forget about all the semi-quavers, just think of the rhythm! I then clapped out the rhythm and they go home singing it every night now
