After this it blossoms into a full SATB texture. The whole piece is accompanied by a gentle and relatively simple piano part.
The text links up the wondrous story of Christ's birth with his destiny: to save us, to reign over us, but also to die for us. A Christmas song with just a tiny Easter kick in the middle!
