I use this book daily still and it's first publishing was back in 87'. Today, in 2006, I run through the exercises, etudes, sequences and arpeggios to warm up my fingers. This is the only Celentano book I've owned and it really has improved my technique. The author...

has printed the notation, the tablature, the left-hand fingering, and the pick direction. His tips in holding the pick at a 45 degree angle and also in keeping a flexible circular motion in your thumb/index grip are valuable hints for bettering one's sweep picking. He covers Alternate picking, Sweep picking, many wonderful arpeggios, and a few uses of right hand fingertapping. Thanks, Dave. This book, though a struggle at first, have enlivened my compositions and by committing myself to learn each page I've developed a passion for getting my fingers on those strings.

This book & CD are useful if you want to learn scales to play neoclassical solos. Not bad, except I prefer more Metal solos.
