Fantaisie (Hommage a Chopin) was commissioned by the Polish government to commemorate the 200th birthday of Chopin. I composed the work for two great artists: Polish pianist Lszek Mozdzer, and american clarinetist Eddie Daniels; and chamber orchestra. They performed the premiere of the piece in Gdansk, Poland in 2010 with the Aukso Chamber Orchestra, which I conducted, in a concert celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Solidarity movement. This version is for piano and clarinet soli, without orchestra.
This printed version contains Eddie Daniels' clarinet improvisation, starting at measure 181, which is transcribed as he performed it.
