Essential Melodies, Vol. I: Bach to Mendelssohn (Discovering the world of symphonic, operatic and chamber literature at the keyboard). Composed by Janet Vogt. For piano. Piano Collection. Educational. Early Intermediate. Educational materials. Published by Heritage Music Press (LO.70-1476H).

Bring the world of classical music-from operatic to symphonic- to students in this richly filled 2-volume set. Presented in late-beginner to early-intermediate levels, these piano reductions capture some of the world's best-known melodies and are especially satisfying for teenagers and adult students. Also an ideal resource to complement themed recitals featuring specific composers, eras, or musical styles. Includes selections from The Nutcracker, Sheherazade, Vivaldi's Seasons, Pictures at an Exhibition and much more.

I was looking for Borodin's "Theme from Polovetsian Dances" and found it in this collection. It was very elementary, but good. Most of the songs are more advanced. The book is a good gift for adult beginners.
