  • February 12, 2002 Eighteenth Variation is Amazing

I wanted to buy this book for the great transcription of Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini's 18th variation. I wanted a transcription that I could play as a solo that would still carry the melodies of the symphony and the piano. I wasn't disappointed. Very...

difficult, but very beautiful and in original key. The other pieces are Casta Diva- Bellini, Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring- Bach, Largo- Bach's Piano Concerto 5, Maple Leaf Rag- Joblin, March of the Toreadors-Bizet, Minuet and Trio- Boccherini, Pavane- Faure, Poloetsian dance- Borodin, Reverie- Debussy, Valse Triste- Sibelius, and Waltz in C# minor. All transcriptions are arranged well and easy to read. The original piano solos are well edited. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is that Schultz's Canon in D plus 12 is a better compilation. Highly recommended!
