Piano Solo,Oboe - Advanced Intermediate - Digital Download

SKU: S0.176399

Composed by Ayden McDonald. 21st Century,Baroque Period,Neo-Classical,Classroom,General Instructional. 5 pages. Published by Ayden McDonald (S0.176399).

This shortduo features the oboe in a melodic & scalic manner accompanied by haunting& sombre piano. Originally a piano solo, this piece was later transcribedfor oboe & piano. As a composer I wanted to explore another instrumentother than solo piano to express meaning & concept.

Stylisticinterpretation is crucial in this work. I wish to display a strong level ofdiscipline in the solo line – clearly articulated phrases, little rubato isadvised however, the performer should not withdraw from self-expression when playing. The piano’s role is to feature his/her classical training, this is achievedthrough; a bright clear sound, even articulation & dynamics, properinterpretation of expressive techniques, & minimal use of rubato.

Frequentmood changes are employed throughout to create contrast & interest, themore gaily sections are to give the listener a sense of relief from the heavier/powerfulsections. The piece is marked ‘Dolente’ meaning mournful, through thisindication the performer can translate it into expression & mood.
