It focuses on the letters "S-D-G" with "S" being "Es" (or e-flat in eastern cultures), "D" being "d-natural," and "G" being "g-natural." It is in every area of the piece, and it is the only melodic content that is subject of the piece. It also requires the use of the voice to resonate with the instrument. The range of the instrument should be 5-octaves. The tonality and scope of the harmonies is relative to the notes mentioned above. The theme does proliferate in other keys and voices, but generally it stays within the bounds of e-flat/a-flat.
