This is a good advanced method book. I've been using this book for teaching for years.

  • 2009-09-22 00:00:00.0 Klose is the Clarinet Bible

This book does cover Beginner to advanced to Professional. It covers the tonal or major-minor period in music history. The techniques and exercises relate to that period. Even though it does not cover the late 19th and 20th centuries, the technique and exercises that it contains are indispensable for...

any clarinettist from beginner to advanced. It does need a teacher to help the student. Without a teacher, this book is not very helpful unless one is very committed to musical growth and cannot get or afford a teacher.

The Klose method has exercises and studies ranging from the intermediate to the super-hyper-advanced. It includes lots of duets, meant to be played by student and instructor. I first used Klose when I began private clarinet lessons at age 13, over 30 years ago. It was a major...

hit on the ego, for the 13yo who had played three years of clarinet in elementary school and junior high school band. I found it incredibly difficult. It is no-doubt indispensable for the professional and serious amateur clarinetist. If you can play through the most advanced exercises, you can probably play anything. Well, there are polytonics and other modern techniques, as well as swing and jazz, not covered by Klose. Using it for guitar is a wonderful idea. Perhaps it could be practiced on any instrument, not just clarinet. I imagine one might use it with a five-string electric violin.

When I was a guitar student, my teacher exposed me to this method by making it part of my weekly lessons. It was a Godsend! The scales and exercises, which are quite difficult, improved my abilities on the guitar by light years and I went on to become a successful...

professional musician. And to my teacher, I am eternally grateful and give my thanks.
