Composed by Ray Henderson. Arranged by David McKeown. Contemporary. Guitar Tab. 2 pages. David McKeown #3361831. Published by David McKeown (A0.587478).The song Bye Bye Blackbird is almost as old as jazz itself, published and first recorded in 1926. As well as being in every jazz musician’s repertoire ever since, the song was also used to taunt US civil rights campaigners in the ‘60s, and during the Second World War a reworded version was often broadcast by Nazi propagandists with the intention of demoralizing Allied troops. It is also rumoured that the Beatles performed it in their early days in Hamburg.
This version contains the melody in both tab and notation, plus the chords and lyrics. It can be used by players and teachers alike to play either melody or accompaniment on EAGBDE standard tuning Guitar. This arrangement also provides a good starting place for an ensemble or group performance.
