By Daskalakis and Ensemble Vintage Cologne. By Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber. Classical. 2 hybrid super audio listening CDs. Published by BIS Records (NX.BIS-2096).

Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber's 15 "Rosary Sonatas" for violin and basso continuo (c. 1687) offer a unique combination of programmatic material and the use of scordatura. Through manuscript engravings depicting key moments in the lives of Christ and the Virgin Mary, the music has become associated with the Catholic Mysteries of the Rosary. Fellow members of the baroque music specialist Ensemble Vintage Koln offer support to fellow member and Greek-American violinist Ariadne Daskalakis, making her BIS debut. Georg Muffat's only extant violin sonata is presented as a coupling to Biber.
