2016 Choral Contest Entry
Text by Laurence Owen, US Champion and Olympic figure skater who perished in 1961 along with the rest of the US team when their plane crashed en route to the World Championships. This poem, an excerpt from a longer piece, captures her youthful hope and promise of a life waiting to be lived. The musical setting is inspired by her last graceful performance on ice at the US Championships where she won Gold just weeks before the fateful trip.
