Item Number: HL.399000

This course of study for piano, published by Novus Via Music Group, is now distributed by Hal Leonard. It features eleven progressive levels, with four different books at each level: repertoire, etudes, skills, and technic. It starts with a preparatory level for first year students, and then includes levels 1-10 for ten years of study. These books provide comprehensive curriculum in diverse musical styles, with instrumental backing tracks on CD with the repertoire books.

Students who use the books in this series will learn how to: develop traditional pianistic and musical skills through music in contemporary, popular styles; be motivated to practice by working on music that is familiar, fun and that they can't wait to play; nurture their creativity and spontaneity through a user-friendly modular approach to improvisation; and enjoy regular ensemble playing, finding pleasure in a lifelong relationship with music.

In fact, you need two copies - a keeper for your studio, one to lend. Ideal, easy, fun. Relief and enrichment for tiring beginners. FABULOUS duet parts! Try it.

  • July 11, 2009 Really fun!

I am a piano teacher who just purchased this book and others in the series. Each book teaches a variety of musical styles and comes with an accompaniment CD. This series is very strong on teaching improvisation, a skill few pianists have. By purchasing all the books in any given...

level, the learner gets a wonderful introduction to many musical styles and plays them with a backup band on a CD. The only problem is that the CD does not have tracks for every piece in the book. In that case, you will have to have another person play a live accompaniment that is in some of the books. In either case, these books make learning music lots of fun!
