Composed by Lachlan Massey. 2 pages. Published by Lachlan Massey (S0.87383).

Above Yackandandah is inspired by a beautiful little town in Northern Victoria. I stopped there on the way back from a holiday in the snow and was absolutely mesmerised by the beautiful surroundings. I'm seriously considering moving there one day. The text: "Above Yackandandah/A place I've never seen/Sweet countrymen who live round it/Seen what I haven't seen". It's dedicated to my lovely grandmother, Sue. The composer, Lachlan Massey, is a young Australian conductor. Born in Sydney, Lachlan made his conducting debut at age eleven in City Recital Hall, where the ABC praised him as having ‘all the makings of a junior maestro’. Lachlan has gone on to conduct in some of the world’s finest concert halls including his home town's Sydney Opera House, the Palau de la Musica in Barcelona, St John’s Smith Square in London and La Madeline in Paris as well as playing piano in the National Concert Hall, Taiwan. He is coming to be increasingly known as a charismatic figure on the podium, bringing intensity, clarity and rich musicality to all his performances. Recordings featuring his conducting have been broadcast on ABC Classic FM, and he has also conducted as part of festivals across Europe such as the Barcelona Festival of Song and the Pollyfollia Festival in northern France. In 2013, Lachlan was honoured to conduct the Sydney Children’s Choir in the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House as part of Hazel Hawke’s state memorial service, in the presence of five former Australian prime ministers. Lachlan has also appeared as a singer, praised for his 'bell like tones' by the Daily Telegraph. He has performed multiple times as a soloist with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Choirs and Sydney Youth Orchestra under conductors such as Paul McCreesh and Brett Weymark. His collaborations include those with singers such as Deborah Humble and Gillian Webster, film music legend Justin Freer, classical guitarist Slava Gregorian and composer Nigel Westlake.
