Anton Dvorak, in 1875 was still a poor composer who rounded off his income by giving piano lessons in the aristocratic and bourgeois circles of Prague. This is the way he got acquainted of Jan Neff's family, a rich moravian storekeeper who often asked him to stay after the lessons to play the piano accompany for them. Neff asked him to write accompaniment of popular moravian songs. But, according to his habit, Dvorak made a real "re-creation" work and, while preserving the lyrics and spirit of these popular songs, composed real personal works. This is how were written, between 1875 and 1881, the 23 moravians duets.
A ja ti uplynu is the first of these duets for soprano, alto and piano, that suits well too for a choir performance.
