Johannes Ockeghem (c. 1410 - 1497) was the leading composer of the second generation of the Netherlandish school. Ockeghem is often considered the most important composer between Dufay and Josquin Des Prez. The secular works of Ockeghem have been somewhat neglected in our time, partly because until recently there was no complete edition. This is a pity, because the relatively small corpus of surviving pieces (about a quarter of the total by Ockeghems contemporary Antoine Busnois) is of remarkable quality.
