'I, Cog' was written in 2006 and first performed by Jane Chapman as part of the SPNM 'Sound Source' concert at the Cargo nightclub, Shoreditch, London. It is written for harpsichord with optional accompaniment provided by live improvising percussion or recorded and looped percussion samples. The brief programme note for the first performance was: "Best to be happy you little cogs..."
