Composed by Paul Pisano. Contemporary Classical,Recital,Comedy. Score. 4 pages. Published by PWP Enterprises (S0.183367).

This miniature musical parody of the verbunkos and csárdás dances (in the style of such art-music reincarnations as Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies and Ravel's Tzigane) describes the dancing prowess of the title character, "who knows how to dance like a gypsy." The pianist gets carried away with the introduction (hallgató, "[music] for listening") until the singer, tired of waiting, interrupts with the lassú (slow dance) to introduce the protagonist. The friss (fast dance) underscores and repeats the description "She'll dance circles around/Everybody in town" with increasing exhilaration until the dancer, slightly inebriated, loses her footing.

To be sung in recital in the context of the Seven Limerick Songs cycle, as the last song of a smaller group excerpted therefrom, or alone as a recital closer or encore. For soprano, high mezzo soprano, or tenor; moderate coloratura. Advanced difficulty. Duration ca. 1:20. Text by the composer.
